CERTIFIED ATHLETE TRAINING

Athlete Trainer Vs. Athletic Trainer

First and most importantly, we do not diagnosis or treat any medical conditions.  We are required by law to make a distinction between Athlete Training and Athletic Training.   To be transparent, we are Athlete Trainers which means we train athletes, and we are NOT Athletic Trainers which should be called physical therapists or rehabilitation specialists.  


Athletic Trainers treat medical conditions after injury of, not before like we do.  Our focus is centered in injury prevention.  Athletic Trainers are also known as sick care, but most commonly called "Healthcare".  Athletic trainers train to help you heal from injury.  We aim to prevent you from ever receiving injury, even though not guaranteed and ultimately avoiding the "Athletic Trainer" all together. 


We also aim to look after your health as we are focused on improving your health, not the opposite.  This should be the meaning of healthcare but unfortunately, it's not.  Now that the disclaimer is out of the way....


We are Athlete Trainers Not Athletic Trainers. 



What is Athlete Training?

We are the step to take before athletic injury. Athletic sports training is designed by our experienced certified staff and this class offers a one-on-one 60-minute session and involves the process that prepares the athlete for performance by improving their skills and conditioning.  Athletic personal training is a type of training that focuses on helping athletes improve their overall athletic performance for any sport. Our staff work with athletes to: 


  • Improve skills: Help athletes improve their speed, agility, coordination, and technique.


  • Tailor exercises: Create exercises that target specific areas of improvement, such as strength, endurance, or agility.


  • Reach athletic potential: Help athletes reach their full athletic potential.


At TBC Wellness Center we tailor and customize our program to the individual, monitor baselines & performance, injury prevention, and dedicate their attention 100% to the customer.  We create our individualized plans for clients based on their goals, needs, and health aliments.   

Performance Strength Focused

 In our athletic strength training our certified staff will focus on physical exercises that help athletes improve their strength and endurance.  As an athlete, you will be performing weightlifting with barbells, dumbbells, machines, weighted cables, using your own body weight, kettlebells, or elastic bands for resistance. Strength training is certain to help improve sports performance, Reduce the risk of injury, and increase muscle strength.
Our customized and tailored training includes 

  • Agility  Strength
  • Explosive Strength
  • Maximum Strength
  • Relative Strength
  • Speed Strength
  • Strength Endurance. 

To avoid overtraining and promote long-term improvements, we use periodization. This involves splitting your training program into specific periods, each with its own objectives and training parameters.

 

Speed, Agility, Plyometric Focused

 In addition to strength training, our innovative courses are tailored and customized by certified staff to the individual.  These customizations also include:

  • Speed training: We use various exercises aimed at helping athletes develop explosive power in the lower body and is used by runners and athletes to boost their performance in acceleration, deceleration, quickness, and change of direction.
  • Agility training:  Our agility training programs incorporate exercises that help you learn to move quickly and efficiently in different directions. It aims to improve your coordination, speed, power, neuromuscular system efficiency, and reaction timing.  Agility is very important to avoid injury in sports.  
  • Plyometric training: The plyometric program at TBC Wellness Center are exercises that use explosive movements to increase muscle power and improve physical performance.  Plyometric exercises involve squat jumps, box jumps, tuck jumps, lateral jumps, power skips and more.  It also includes throwing, running, and kicking to improve speed, jump higher, and throw harder. 
  • Interval training:  All of our training is interval based and alternates between short, high-intensity bursts and rest periods to improve speed, lactate threshold, and recovery rate. 

 

Sport Specific, Injury Prevention Focused

 IAt TBC Wellness Center, injury prevention and safety are the highest of priorities in any training program.  Our programs are tailored and customized with sport-specific injury prevention in every step.  


Before we ever get started, we do free consultations with the athlete to learn about the individual, current performance metrics, desired athletic goals, body metrics, prior injuries, prior surgeries, and other specific individual needs to support the athlete's success.


In every step of our training program, we focus on injury prevention while supporting athletic performance on balance, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, directional change, and plyometrics while being focused on goal specific targets to help you put the work in and improve..  All of these elements promote the reduction and likelihood of injury. 


Our program supports athletes to improve athletic performance and prevent injuries by focusing on the unique demands of a particular sport. We aim to support any athlete in:
